In this image, I designed a beach enviornment where the viewer is standing on a boardwalk looking over.
I used the gradiant tool quite a lot with this piece. The sand, ocean and the sun all recieved a gradiant. As for the boardwalk, used three layers, one for the solid base brown color, a second one underneath to make darker brown lines to provide the 3D shadow look. And a third one for a single light brown line to create the highlight top of the boardwalk fence.
